Cats, Dogs, and Dinos are battling for cute card supremacy in Cat Days, Woof Days and Dino Days by Farplace Games!

2 Paws…..2 Players!

As our Labradoodle is in charge in our household, I have focussed this review on Woof Days. But whether you are playing with waggy tails, whiskers or scales, the game play is virtually the same – only the art changes.

And the gameplay itself is a quick 2 player card drafting and placing game which takes around 5 – 10 minutes to play for players aged 6+ .

In the game, you are trying to fill your week with waggy woofs. On your turn, you either play a card from your hand onto a day of your week tableau, or you draw a card from the deck. As soon as one player has filled each day of their week with dog(s), the game is over and it is time to score the top cards. Whoever has the highest points is the Weimaraner ..ahem, I mean winner!

Meddlesome Mutts!

As well as each dog having a different placement ability – some involving shifting other dogs in your tableau (or your opponent’s) around – there are some item cards which enable even more tableau manipulation for point boosting purposes. There’s a nice mix of take-that to meddle with your opponent’s efforts and self-promotion which hopefully mitigates some of the luck of the draw.

In a Good Paws!

Farplace is an animal charity which has brought fun into fundraising. The games aren’t complicated or long. They are simple, quick to the table fillers that are fun to play over a cuppa or a gravy bone or two (if that is your meatier!)

Admittedly the rules are a bit lacking even for such a simple game, but the artwork is super cute, and our 9 year old son and I had fun playing it. I must confess that I am a fan of take that (even when it happens to me) so that little bit of spice is what will most likely bring this game back to the table for me.

And if cute cats, daft dogs, and dippy dinos aren’t your thing, there are now other editions including Space, Dungeons, and Pirates!
